Raffle Winner…and Our Adoption Video

The raffle drawing day finally came…at long last!

We cannot thank each one of you who purchased a ticket or many tickets enough.  Your support means so much!

We ended up selling 108 tickets, which means we raised $1080!!  Thank you! Thank You!

So after a long, grueling day at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital International Adoption Clinic we decided to take the kids out for authentic African food and do the drawing there.  The little ones got shots, vials and vials of blood drawn and their personal space invaded.  But as a HUGE praise and “thank you” to the Lord, I have to say how kind he was to sustain us and bring us back home safely and happily.  When we got back into the van, after being there for almost 6 hours, little Joy-bubble says, “Thank you, mom!” with a huge smile.  And I am pretty sure she was thanking me for the ordeal being over.  Sweet girl!
Some of their “ouches” (one was quite dramatic and the other pretty cool with it all…I’ll let you figure out which was which. Ha!)

So, {drum roll…} here are the photos of the drawing…

Our trick-or-treating bucket with the 108 tickets…
Joy-Bubble, not quite sure what she is supposed to do…
“Dad says one, mom says smile.  So complicated!  I just want my fufu bread, rice and fried plantains!”
Mixing, mixing…
Finally! Just one…and…
The winner is KRISTEN K!!  Congratulations, Kristen.  She and her husband happen to be adopting from the DR Congo as well (a baby girl).  And we have enjoyed walking this journey together a bit.  Feel free to raffle for your adoption, Kristen. Ha!!! :-)
And then I put together a little video of some of the pictures of our adoption and time since we’ve been home.  It’s here on Vimeo, if you want to head over there and check it out.

  1. Oh Ruth – this is just such a beautiful story. LI’ve been sitting at my desk (at work) crying while I watched your video – very nicely done. I love that last song. Is it Steve Green? If so – what album? I’ve not heard that one before. Blessings to you and Adam and your family. You are a great encouragement to me and to many others, I’m sure.

    Hugs,
    Sarah

    • Thank you, Sarah! May God get all the glory. He has truly done great things!! Yes, it was Steve Green, from his new Rest in Wonder album. I am so blessed by his music…showing my age, I guess. Ha!! :-)
      Blessings to you, Sarah!

    • Thanks for stopping by. I saw on your blog that you have seven blessings!! Praise the Lord!! Praying that the Lord moves in a mighty way for this new precious child you are adopting. If I can ever do anything, private message me (ryoung1514@gmail.com). Blessings to you!
